Luke Aikins jumped from an altitude of 25,000 feet without a parachute. This is about twice the usual skydiving height. He was the first person ever to attempt such a skydive. After two minutes of free-fall, he had to position himself to land on a net less than half the size of a football field, spread out 200 feet above the earth.
Viewers watched him live diving from an aeroplane on last Saturday. He removed his oxygen mask around 18,000 feet and passed it to one of the three parachuted assistants diving with him. He was guided by GPS and lights and was aiming for the center of the net. He flipped onto his back few seconds before he landed safely on the net in the California desert.
Just watching the video will give you goosebumps..
