Fascinating Engineering Facts About The Titanic (Video)

All of us probably remembered the Titanic because of its failure. But, it was an absolute engineering marvel of its time. The name Titanic came from Greek mythology which means gigantic. This steam-powered massive ship had two twins; the Olympic and Britannic. Here are some fun facts about the Titanic:

  • The Titanic was the largest man-made moving object on Earth at that time.
  • The ship burned around 650 tonnes of coal and almost 100 tonnes of ash was ejected into the sea each day. A team of 176 men hand-shoveled the coals into its furnaces.
  • Only 3 of the 4 the smokestacks were used to exhaust gases from the boiler. The 4th one was primarily built to make the ship look more attractive.
